If we had a £100.00 for every time someone has called say their two guinea pigs of the same sex have just had babies, funding our charity would not be a problem. There are 2 main things without which we could not carry on. These 2 things are influential in taking in unwanted guinea pigs, the care (a mammoth task) and funding without which we would be doomed. We are often asked "do you get funding from somewhere?" Well, actually, no. Our funding is from adoption fees, boarding fees, the sale of products, functions and donations. Funding here is a constant worry and an ongoing problem. Whenever we are unable to take further unwanted guinea pigs into our refuge it is always for 2 reasons only.... "manning it and funding it". However, we never turn away an emergency. We are always short of volunteers and we are always on thin ice regarding funding. SPONSORSHIP
A Different Angle........
ALEX AND KATE'S WEDDING
When Alex and Kate's wedding guests arrived at the venue for the reception
last summer, all the place names had a picture of Kate's guinea pigs on
them. A little message read that Alex and Kate would like to raise some
money for their favorite charity, April Lodge Guinea Pig Rescue at
Sandwich. Despite a few raised eyebrows, the guests promptly put donations
in an envelope attached to the place names.
Thank you Kate and Alex for raising £70 for our charity in the most unique
way !!
A Different Angle In Memory of Jackie Holland. Sadly, one of our "adopters" passed away in June 2010. It was her wish that any charity donations should be payable to April Lodge Guinea Pig Rescue. We were touched to receive a total of £130.00 I will always remember Jackie as a lady who loved her guinea pigs, loved our sanctuary, supplied us with a mountain of bathing towels and had a great sense of humour. Thanks for that. When we had our lodge refurbished in 2007 we decided
to introduce hutch sponsorship. We still have several hutches
available for a one off sponsorship £30 . This pays for the hutch
and a gold- coloured memorial plaque with you little friends details
