LONG TERM FOSTER
CARE - enquiries to
aprillodgeguinea@aol.com
We sometimes
have guinea pigs here that are not suitable for adoption. These often go on
long-term foster-care. They are quite well but would benefit from more
one-to-one care. They are often part of a bonded pair. We would in this
event allow them both to go on long term foster-care.
Any guinea pigs that are on complicated medication or
treatment stay with us.
Because we have an ever-growing list of guinea pigs
waiting to come here, we are hoping we can free up some spaces by
offering these guinea pigs long-term foster care. Anyone willing to
participate in this scheme would receive full back-up from us and can return
the guinea pigs at any time, if the need arises.
The guinea pigs available for long-term foster care are
the following:
Two delightful older
ladies in need of Long-Term Fostercare
Petal and Patch
Petal was given up as a four year old and was brought to April Lodge.
Patch, who is also four years old came here for an introduction but was
transferred into the charities name when we informed the owner she
appeared to have a respiratory abnormality. The owner decided he
couldn't cope with the medication. Petal and Patch both have congestive
heart failure. However, they are quite well and are on medication twice
daily. They would benefit enormously from long term foster care. The
charity would give the foster carer full back up including medication.
Can you help?

Bengi & Fluffy
Fluffy
is divine but she is an in-bred pure bred so needs to be kept
indoors with lots of activity and special care. Her companion
Bengi has a slightly impacted bottom which needs attention

Timber & Frilly
Timber is
around 3/4 years of age. He is Peruvian and his dense coat needs
lots of care. At the moment he is in the early stages of
Pododermatitis which we are treating. Frilly is also about 4yrs
old. She has a huge lump underneath that does not appear to be
causing any trouble. It is probably a fatty lipoma |
